Check out [[Daily Reading]] for context. ## Today's Pick of the Internet Today, I have just one article. It is but a rather heavy one. From the brilliant mind of Ivaylo Durmonski, I present to you the **comfort zone**. #### [Why Great Things Never Came From Comfort Zones](https://durmonski.com/self-improvement/great-things-never-came-from-comfort-zones/) **The Paradox of Comfort**. Most times when we decide we want what *someone else has*, we are only thinking about the fun and glamorous aspect of thee lives. Seldom do we think about the hard work that goes into the acquisition and maintenance of these worldly pleasures. > The more we try to possess comfortable things, the more uncomfortable our lives becomes trying to maintain these comfortable things. **The Comfort Zone Theory**. > "The comfort zone is a place where an individual uses a limited set of familiar behaviors to deliver familiar results. He is strictly focused on routines that are risk-free which stalls his progress in life." **Happiness and Comfort**. - Happiness and Comfort are directly proportional. Comfort and Achievement are inversely proportional. Thus, Happiness and Achievement are inversely proportional. - To achieve great things, you must be ready to push yourself and get into a state of discomfort - Pain and suffering are essential to happiness **Moving out of your Comfort Zone** (my interpretation of the more scientific ideas the author suggest). - Think in systems - Take small steps - Adapt to your environment - Don't shy away from learning - Focus on the process, not the outcome --- #### Like what you see?
