#### [How To Opt Out of the Career Ladder](https://devinterrupted.substack.com/p/how-to-opt-out-of-the-career-ladder)
This is a piece on how to "explore" or "re-invent" yourself if the conventional career path is not what excites you. To be honest, the introduction itself hit a little too close to home for me.
- **Get clear on your values** - Do not define "values" based on what society finds most acceptable. Find your own, search for your own.
- **Figure out how work fits into your life** - Be intentional about where your work is and where your life is
- **Work fits into your life differently at different life stages** - Don't be rigid, be flexible in your commitments towards work
- **You shouldn't feel guilty for needing things work can't provide** - Lose the guilt if you feel you need more from life than work
- **Notice what sparks your interest** - You first, then work.
- **Make a list. Jot down everything that sparks your interest** - The career ladder is designed to be useful to the company more than it can be useful to you. So, make your own list of where you want to be.
- **Expect skepticism** - The world will doubt you more often that you might expect. Embrace it.
#### [The Future of Software Engineering - AIOps](https://musingsonai.substack.com/p/edition-27-the-future-of-software)
- AIOps - The concept of using AI to develop solutions with code to improve business workflows.
- Democratise development of solutions. Not just engineers, "citizen developers" can start to develop solutions
- Treating AI like an assistant who does the work, but the strategy and design originates in the head of the developer
