#### [The Feynman Technique 2.0: How to Level Up Your Learning](https://themindcollection.com/the-feynman-technique/)
A thinking model to learn new things, developed by Richard Feynman. In this article, the author extends this model with their own ideas.
**Step 1 - Study the subject**
- Write down what you already know about something, no matter how insignificant
- This helps carve out the "edges" of our knowledge
- Categorise these bits to create an overarching strategy
- Rearrange your knowledge and make connections as new material becomes available
- Limit scope of learning
- Prepare learning material
- Set learning objectives for each module & lesson
**Step 2 - Teach the subject**
- Teach whatever you have just learned
- Consider who you teach, how you teach and what you will teach
- Prepare more than what you plan to teach
**Step 3 - Identify knowledge gaps**
- Find gaps in your knowledge by interacting with people about this
- Go beyond gaps and look for what next you can learn
- Talk to an expert to verify if what you learn actually makes sense. This is useful to tune out your unconscious incompetence.
**Step 4 - Simplify further**
- To truly understand something, you ought to simplify it
- Prepare to explain it to a novice
- Prepare a way to understand if your students have actually understood it
- Write bits if information at various levels to improve your expertise
